Horizon Forbidden West: New update adds VRR support

All the information around Horizon Forbidden West

A new update for Horizon Forbidden West has been released and has added support for variable refresh rate (VRR) displays, as per a new report from Video Games Chronicle.

The new update is the 1.17 patch and it also adds in a high refresh rate mode for displays that can support 120Hz, and a graphics mode, titled ‘Balanced’, that runs at 40Hz.

VRR has been added to the PS5 for a number of titles and will now be supported in Horizon.

It allows the player’s screen to adjust how often it refreshes the image to match the frame rate from your console or PC. VRR, as a result, is only really used in gaming.

The HFR mode that has been added also allows the screen to be refreshed 120 times every single second, often increasing the frame rate and all but eliminating input lag.

VRR was only added to PS5 in April, and you’ll need a HDMI 2.1 compatible television to be able to actually use it.

If you connect your PS5 to a HDMI 2.1 VRR-compatible TV, VRR will automatically be turned on, so you may not even have to turn the option on for most games.

In addition to Horizon Forbidden West, other games that support VRR on PS5 are as follows: Astro’s Playroom, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Call of Duty: Vanguard, Destiny 2, Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition, DIRT 5, Ghostwire: Tokyo, Godfall, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Resident Evil Village, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege, Tribes of Midgard.

You can now add Horizon Forbidden West to that list, and it will only add further beauty to what is an absolutely gorgeous game already.
