Rangers have conducted 'a very smart piece of business' by ensuring a sell-in clause has been written into the deal which will take Ibrox star Joe Aribo to Southampton, according to journalist Pete O'Rourke.
Gers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst is preparing for his first full season at the helm, having succeeded Steven Gerrard in November, but it appears he will be unable to call upon Aribo.

Aribo seems to be on his way to Southampton as, according to Sky Sports, the Premier League club have entered advanced talks to sign the midfielder.
The report suggests the deal for the 20-cap Nigeria international will be worth £10million, including add-ons.
It means Aribo is in line to be among the top five most expensive outgoings in Rangers' entire history.
With the 25-year-old having a £10million release clause written into his Gers contract, the Glasgow giants were reportedly determined not to accept a total package worth less than that value and, as a result, a sell-on clause has been included in the agreement.
Rangers have been open to offloading Aribo as he had entered the final 12 months of his £14,000-per-week deal.

O'Rourke believes Rangers have been clever in their negotiations with Southampton and, as a consequence, could stand to secure even more cash from Aribo's departure.
The journalist feels the Nigerian's performances in the Premier League could lead to it being 'inevitable' that he will secure another big-money move further down the line, allowing the Gers to profit.

O'Rourke told GIVEMESPORT: "It's a very smart piece of business by Rangers. I think it's probably more and more prevalent now.
"When clubs sell players, they do try and insert sell-on clauses just in case they go on and make even bigger moves in the future as well.
"If Joe Aribo does well at Southampton, it's inevitable that some bigger clubs will be looking at him in the Premier League or elsewhere.
"Rangers have done their homework and been smart by inserting a sell-on clause for if he was to move on."
How has Aribo performed for Rangers?
It appears Aribo has made his final Rangers appearance, having joined from Charlton Athletic three years ago.
During his time at Ibrox, he has found the back of the net 26 times and registered a further 25 assists in 148 outings.
Among Aribo's most memorable moments was scoring the opener in last season's Europa League final, although Rangers went on to suffer a heartbreaking penalty shoot-out defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt.
The London-born ace also wrote his name into the history books by winning the Scottish Premiership and Scottish League Cup during his time in Glasgow.
