Arsenal target Serge Gnabry is in talks with Bayern Munich over extending his stay at the Allianz Arena, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The 26-year-old has been linked with a move away from the club and while Jones believes the winger has started discussions over a new contract, he admitted the Gunners are still monitoring his situation.

What's the latest news involving Gnabry?

Gnabry now has less than 12 months left on his deal with the reigning Bundesliga champions, which has naturally led to doubts over his future.

According to CBS reporter Ben Jacobs, the Gunners are interested in re-signing the attacker, who started his career in north London, although Manchester City and Manchester United are also keen.

Journalist Christian Falk has since revealed that Bayern are planning to undergo talks with Gnabry and his representatives over a new contract as they fight off competition for his signature.

But while Bayern are desperate to keep the impressive winger, they would be prepared to sell him for around £35m to prevent the possibility of losing him for nothing next summer, should he decide against signing a new contract, having already rejected a £220,000 per-week offer.

What did Jones say about Gnabry?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "Bayern are in new talks with Gnabry and that's a situation a few Premier League clubs are watching closely. I know Arsenal are not active on this front at the moment, but let's see if that changes soon."

Would Gnabry be a good signing for Arsenal?

Following the arrivals of Fabio Vieira and Gabriel Jesus, Arteta's team is beginning to take shape, but the Gunners lack genuine top class talent in their side, with the exception of Bukayo Saka.

Signing Gnabry would soon change that, though. Not only does he already have that connection with the club after his previous exploits, but his attacking output would instantly improve Arsenal.

Gnabry, valued at £58.5m by Transfermarkt, is a proven winner, getting his hands on more than 10 trophies during his four seasons in Munich, while he's racked up an astonishing 104 goal contributions in 171 appearances.

Arteta usually likes to sign younger players, whereas Gnabry turns 27 later this month, but the ex-Gunner is in the prime years of his career and if the opportunity to re-sign him comes about, they shouldn't think twice.
