Crystal Palace could make “probably another one, maybe two” additions to their squad ahead of the transfer window deadline, according to Tom Barclay of The Sun.

The Eagles have only made two signings as of yet this transfer window, and Barclay believes the club won’t go on a spending spree ahead of the Premier League kick-off in August.

What’s the latest news at Palace?

Despite making two signings this summer, Palace haven’t spent any money in transfer fees with the captures of both goalkeeper Sam Johnstone and winger Malcolm Ebiowei signed on free transfers.

Patrick Vieira will be looking for additions to improve on Palace’s 12th-placed finish in the Premier League next season, whilst also wanting to find a replacement for Conor Gallagher, who has returned to Chelsea after spending the last campaign on loan at Selhurst Park.

It is quite a contrast to last summer, in which Vieira’s side brought in ten new players with a squad rebuild required, but there is nothing to suggest that this window will be in any way similar.

And Barclay believes that there may only be a couple of additions at Palace ahead of September’s transfer deadline.

What has Barclay said about Palace?

He told GIVEMESPORT: “They’re definitely looking around.

“I think they like what they’ve already got in terms of a [Conor] Gallagher replacement.

“But again, if something comes up then it depends what's available, and if it works for them.

“I can't see a repeat of last season when they did all that business

“So probably another one, maybe two additions.

Who could Palace possibly sign?

It looks as if a potential move to sign Gallagher on a permanent deal isn’t likely, with Aston Villa looking like potential suitors for the four-time England international, though a stay at Chelsea is also on the cards.

Morgan Gibbs-White has been touted as a potential replacement to Gallagher this season, with Vieira thought to be interested in the Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder, according to Dean Jones.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT that Vieira sees him as a young player who could suit Palace’s system in much the same way the Chelsea loanee did.

Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Palace are on the verge of announcing the signing of Lens midfielder Cheick Doucouré for a fee of £18m plus add-ons, with Vieira wanting to bolster his midfield ahead of the Premier League season’s start in August.

It may prove to be a frustrating transfer window for Palace fans who are desperate to see some new signings through the door at Selhurst Park, but Vieira is unlikely to overhaul the squad like he did last season, so they may have to settle for a couple of smart additions instead.
