Tottenham Hotspur announced the signing of Clement Lenglet on Friday afternoon.

The Frenchman has joined the north London side in a season-long loan from Barcelona.

He told Tottenham's official website: "I am very happy to be here, to be in this city, in this club. I am very excited to start the new season with my new teammates, a new stadium, a new city. I am hungry. I want to play, to be the best soccer player and to help the team win trophies.

"I want to be a good teammate. To be a defender who is aggressive and help the group with the ball. It's very important to be a good defender and after to be a good player on the ball."

Lenglet has become Tottenham's fifth signing of the summer, with Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma and Richarlison all having joined in the past few weeks.

Spurs are building something special under Antonio Conte and they now have a squad that is capable of challenging on all fronts.

Spurs are now stacked with talent all over the pitch.

And they are set to bolster their squad even further, too.

Djed Spence was mightily impressive for Nottingham Forest in the Championship last season. He played a key role as they sealed their return to the Premier League.

The Telegraph revealed earlier this week that Spurs are poised to sign the highly-rated 21-year-old in a £15m move.

His arrival will only improve their options at right wing-back.

Spurs have already made so many great additions this summer and there's just under two months of the transfer window remaining.

They could yet spend big on another centre-back, with Inter's Alessandro Bastoni being heavily linked with the club over the past few months.

Antonio Conte is building something very special in north London. With the Italian manager having so many options to choose from, the 2022/23 campaign could be the season that Spurs finally end their wait for a trophy.
