Portugal were last-minute additions to Euro 2022 after Russia were kicked out of the tournament.The side got off to a terrible start, conceding two goals in the first five minutes of their Group C clash against Switzerland.But Portugal showed determination to get back into the game, with Diana Silva and Jéssica Silva scoring in the second half to bring their team level.The match, which ended 2-2, also saw teenage star Kika Nazareth make her major international tournament debut.The 19-year-old is such a promising talent that she became the first female footballer to sign with super agent Jorge Mendes, who also represents Cristiano Ronaldo. Who is Kika Nazareth?

Nazareth, who can play out wide or as an attacking midfielder, has been featuring for Benfica since she was 16-years-old. She has scored 31 goals in 60 appearances for the side.

The young star made her debut for Portugal in 2020, coming on as a substitute against Italy at the Algarve Cup.

Nazareth has now made 17 appearances for her country, scoring twice during a 4-0 victory against Greece last month.

Known for her technical ability and fearless attitude, Nazareth has been earmarked as one for the future. She signed with Polaris Sports, Jorge Mendes’s agency, in March.

Who is Jorge Mendes?

Mendes is one of the most influential football agents in the world, with David de Gea, José Mourinho, Diego Costa, James Rodríguez, João Félix and Cristiano Ronaldo among his clients.

He has brokered some of the biggest transfers in football, overseeing Ronaldo’s moves to Manchester United and Real Madrid, Costa to Chelsea, and Rodríguez to Monaco.

Mendes was also responsible for Mourinho’s move from Porto to manage Chelsea, and subsequent moves to Inter Milan and Real Madrid.

Outside of football, Mendes also represents Formula 1 star Charles Leclerc, European triple jump champion Patricia Mamona, tennis player João Sousa and cyclist João Almeida.

Nazareth is the first female player to be signed by Mendes, demonstrating just how highly-regarded she is. The teenager will be hoping to enhance her reputation at Euro 2022.

The tournament kicked-off last week at Old Trafford, with the first round of group stage matches set to finish today. Portugal still have Sweden and defending champions Netherlands left to play.
