Paris Saint-Germain have one of the most dizzying squads in world football.

It really did feel as though the French giants were playing FIFA Career Mode when they brought in Lionel Messi, Achraf Hakimi, Danilo Pereira, Sergio Ramos, Georginio Wijnaldum and Gianluigi Donnarumma in the space of just one summer.

So when you watch them re-signing Kylian Mbappe to the tune of a gargantuan contract and even see Robert Lewandowski linked with a move to Paris, then you can't help thinking that the world's gone mad.

Course correction at PSG

However, it's not been all sunshine and rainbows at the Parc des Princes because despite executing one of the wildest transfer hauls in history last summer, the 2021/22 season was ultimately defined by disappointment.

The Parisians didn't get their hands on a single domestic cup, bottled a 2-0 Champions League lead against Real Madrid and even played some dire football in a largely nondescript run to the Ligue 1 title.

As such, you really get the feeling that PSG are hitting the reset button this summer, deciding at long last to ditch their policy of buying the most glamorous players and hoping for the best.

The failed experiment with Mauricio Pochettino in the dugout has been nipped in the bud and a course correction has been established with the appointment of Christophe Galtier, who led Lille to Ligue 1 glory in 2021.

It's a substance-over-style appointment that could see great change percolate down the hierarchy at the club, and that could well commence with a clear-out of the first-team squad.

At least, that's according to reports from France that suggest as many as 11 players - all of which are top-class operators - have been placed on the club's transfer list this summer.

PSG name 11-man transfer list

The team at Get French Football News have translated a fascinating report in Le Parisien that breaks down PSG's full list of 11 'undesirable' players that the club wants to sell ahead of the 2022/23 season.

It's explained that the club has been looking to make considerable player sales for some time, but that Leonardo had failed miserably in his attempts to execute that policy ahead of his dismissal this year.

As such, it's the task of incoming director Antero Henrique to ensure that PSG do indeed streamline with their squad, plotting key exits in partnership with new de-facto sporting director Luis Campos.

And it seems as though they're not afraid to make some big decisions in the interest of cutting out squad players with the 11 individuals reported by the French newspaper to be on PSG's transfer list going as follows:

  • Layvin Kurzawa
  • Abdou Diallo
  • Thilo Kehrer
  • Leandro Paredes
  • Danilo Pereira
  • Idrissa Gueye
  • Ander Herrera
  • Georginio Wijnaldum
  • Éric Junior Dina Ebimbe
  • Julian Draxler
  • Mauro Icardi

PSG absolutely spoilt for resources

Goodness me. You know your squad is absolutely stacked when you can put players like Icardi, Herrera and Paredes on your transfer list without having much concern that it will greatly limit your depth.

Nevertheless, it is interesting to note the absence of Presnel Kimpembe and Neymar, who have both been name-dropped in various reports suggesting that PSG would let them leave under the right circumstances.

But of the players that have been attributed to PSG's transfer list, by far the most note-worthy name is that of Wijnaldum seeing as it's only been a year since he arrived at the club from Liverpool.

However, despite his lucrative success at Anfield, the Dutchman struggled to adapt to life at the Parc des Princes and his miserable 2021/22 season was compounded by being voted the 'Flop Signing of the Year'.

It was rather mercilessly said that Wijnaldum "did little more than look lost in PSG’s midfield as his team played around him," in a campaign that was clearly so bad that his employers are already happy to cut ties.

Nevertheless, as GFFN warns, getting Wijnaldum and the other ten players on PSG's transfer list to move on won't be an easy task when potential suitors might not match the dizzying wages that they're dishing out.

Sooner rather than later, though, you can expect some wholesale changes in the 'City of Light'.
