Leeds United winger Jack Harrison is ‘happy’ at the club despite interest in his signature, according to Sky Sports reporter Tim Thornton.

The 25-year-old has been linked with a surprise move away from Elland Road in recent weeks following another solid season in the Premier League.

What is the latest news involving Harrison?

It was first reported by The Telegraph back in May that Newcastle United were interested in snapping up Harrison, although they feared Leeds’ top-flight survival would make a potential deal difficult.

The Athletic then supported up those claims, claiming that both the Magpies and Tottenham Hotspur were admirers of the former England Under-21 international.

And the Daily Mail have provided a recent update on Harrison’s situation, stating that Newcastle are ‘weighing up a bid’ for the attacker as they look to strengthen in the final third of the pitch.

GiveMeSport Transfer Latest

Leeds have been very active in the transfer market already, bringing in the likes of Brenden Aaronson, Tyler Adams and Rasmus Kristensen.

Manager Jesse Marsch has also added Luis Sinisterra to his ranks from Feyenoord, a winger who predominantly operates on the left-hand side, possibly opening the door for Harrison to depart.

What has Thornton said about Harrison?

Thornton expects Harrison to stay put, though, despite informing GiveMeSport that he has been attracting admiring glances from potential suitors since January.

In an interview with GMS, he said: “I would expect him to stay. There have been conversations; there's been interest.

“I think there was a bit of interest back in the January transfer window as well, but I think Jack's happy at Leeds. His stats are good, his goals record; his assists.”

Would Harrison be a big loss?

Harrison, who has two years remaining on his current £60,000-per-week contract, has been a pivotal part of Leeds’ success in recent years.

Last term, he registered eight goals and one assist in 35 Premier League appearances, building on the impressive 16 goal contributions he racked up in 36 top-flight fixtures throughout 2020/21.

As per WhoScored, Harrison also averaged 1.2 key passes, 1.5 dribbles and 0.5 crosses per league game las season, placing in the top three for each metric amongst his teammates.

Losing Harrison, therefore, would surely be a bitter blow for Leeds, and Marsch will surely be hoping he can retain his services for a little while longer.
