Everton might only make one signing for a "big fee" this summer, according to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

The Toffees recently sold Richarlison to Tottenham, but Brown doesn't expect that money to go towards Frank Lampard's transfer budget.

What's the latest news involving Everton?

It's been a quiet start to the window for Lampard's side, although given their recent financial problems, that shouldn't come as a great surprise.

Everton announced back in March that they'd suffered losses of more than £100m for the third year on the bounce, which was always likely to have a negative impact on their transfer window.

Therefore, despite being less than five weeks away from the new Premier League season, James Tarkowski remains the club's only arrival and even he arrived on a free transfer after leaving Burnley.

And Brown reckons that even although Everton were paid £60m by Spurs for Richarlison's services, he expects the Goodison Park outfit to make just one significant transfer this window.

What did Brown say about Everton?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "It does look like even with the Richarlison money, there is probably only one signing they will make for a relatively big fee, with the rest of them likely to be loans or free transfers, which is why they went for Tarkowski."

Who could be Everton's big-money signing?

Given that Richarlison has been Everton's top scorer in three of his four seasons, replacing the Brazil international was always likely to be one of the club's top priorities this summer.

And if Brown's prediction comes to the front, then it makes perfect sense to invest heavily in signing another attacking player in his place.

According to the Telegraph, Lampard is hoping to use his Chelsea connections and sign young Blues forward Armando Broja, who could seek more regular first-team chances away from Stamford Bridge.

The report states that Broja has interest from several Premier League clubs, with the Albanian very much on Everton's list of potential strikers.

The Merseysiders are clearly looking for a proven top-flight frontman and are therefore also keen on Watford's Emmanuel Dennis, who caught the eye with 10 goals in his debut campaign in English football.

Everton are also in the race for Wolves youngster Morgan Gibbs-White, although they face intense competition from both Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest.
