A huge pre-season clash is taking place this week, as bitter rivals, Manchester United and Liverpool face-off on foreign soil. Here's everything you need to know about the fixture.

Erik ten Hag's first fixture as Manchester United manager doesn't get much harder than this, he'll face Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool side in what is both of the two English giants' first pre-season tour fixture. The match may be labelled as a friendly, but neither side will want to lose this one simply because of the fierce rivalry between the two clubs, so it should be an exciting game.

We also have the potential to see some new faces on offer, which only adds to the excitement. Liverpool have Darwin Nunez, and Fabio Carvalho both travelling, whereas Manchester United have new Dutch full-back Tyrell Malacia in their ranks. Will we see them debut in this fierce fixture?

So, with this - here's everything you need to know about the pre-season fixture between Manchester United and Liverpool.

Both teams named their squads for the pre-season tour quite recently, with the big news coming from Manchester United that Cristiano Ronaldo hasn't travelled, with media speculating he's looking for a way out of Old Trafford.

As mentioned before both sides have new boys in their ranks, but unfortunately, Fulham recruit Calvin Ramsay has an injury so hasn't travelled with the Liverpool squad.

As it's a pre-season friendly, it's hard to say what both sides will come out looking like, but with unlimited substitutes - we should see an entirely different team in both halves.

Head to Head

Here’s how the last three fixtures between the two sides have played out:

19th April 2022: Liverpool 4 – 0 Manchester United

24th October 2021: Manchester United 0 – 5 Liverpool

13th May 2021: Manchester United 2 – 4 Liverpool

Odds

Here are the odds that are being offered by various bookmakers:

Erik ten Hag's first game should come with teething issues, so we think Liverpool take this one.

Jurgen Klopp already knows the full dynamic of his squad but more importantly just how to beat Manchester United. Their recent results against the Red Devils have been absolute hammerings - so we'll say Liverpool will come out as 3-1 victors.
