Chelsea are likely to be keen on keeping winger Callum Hudson-Odoi at the club this summer, according to Paul Brown of the Daily Star.

Hudson-Odoi has frequently been linked with a move to Bayern Munich since coming through the ranks at Stamford Bridge, whilst Newcastle United have been linked by The Sun with a move for the Chelsea man this summer.

What’s the latest on Chelsea?

Thomas Tuchel’s side are set to announce the signing of Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling for a reported fee of £47.5m this week, with more wide-men being added to the ranks at the club.

Meanwhile, according to the Daily Mail, Timo Werner, Christian Pulisic, and Hakim Ziyech are all at risk of being pushed out of the door at Stamford Bridge, which could increase Hudson-Odoi’s chances of being a more regular starter in the Chelsea team.

However according to Sky Sports, Tuchel’s side are working on deals to bring Leeds United winger Raphinha to the club, whilst moves for Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo and PSG’s Neymar have also been discussed, according to the same report.

But Brown believes that Hudson-Odoi is likely to stay at Chelsea this year, with the £25m-rated winger highly regarded at Stamford Bridge.

What has Brown said about Hudson-Odoi?

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Hudson-Odoi is a little bit different.

“He's someone the club has produced.

“He's young, so he's got time to grow.

“I think because he can play in multiple roles, and he's played that wing-back role as well, I think the manager will be quite keen to keep him.”

Will Hudson-Odoi play a part for Chelsea this season?

Whilst he’s still young at just 21-years-old, Hudson-Odoi, who was dubbed as “perfect” by Thomas Tuchel following his performance in a Champions League victory over Malmo last season, will be feeling that he needs to become a regular starter at Stamford Bridge in order to progress his career further, and this season might just be that year.

The versatile forward made 28 appearances for the Blues last season, scoring three goals and providing six assists according to Transfermarkt.

Hudson-Odoi is an exceptional dribbler of the ball and likes to get forward whenever possible, and this is shown as he ranked in the top 6% of attacking midfielders/wingers for progressive carries per 90 minutes last season (9.43) according to FBref.

An average SofaScore rating of 6.91 for his Premier League performances last season suggest that when called upon, Hudson-Odoi was capable of performing to a decent standard on a consistent basis.

Chelsea may have a wide range of other options out wide going into August’s Premier League kick-off, but Tuchel may believe that now is the time to unleash Hudson-Odoi on the rest of the league.
