Southampton will not sell Kyle Walker-Peters this summer, according to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook.

The full-back has been linked with a move to Everton, but Crook says he has been told that the Saints have no intention of selling their player.

What is the latest news involving Walker-Peters?

The Daily Mirror recently claimed that Everton manager Frank Lampard is a "big fan" of Walker-Peters.

According to the same outlet, the Toffees boss will make a move for him if the club are given the all clear to spend again after running into trouble with the Premier League over profit and sustainability rules, and it looks like they have following a £25m bid for Wolves' Morgan Gibbs-White.

Walker-Peters was a very important player for Ralph Hasenhuttl last season. Despite the emergence of Tino Livramento, the 25-year-old managed to keep his place in the team after reinventing himself as a left-back.

In total, Walker-Peters made 37 appearances in all competitions for the Saints during the 2021/22 campaign.

What has Crook said about Walker-Peters and Southampton?

Crook has told GIVEMESPORT that the noises coming out of Southampton suggest Walker-Peters is not for sale.

Speaking to GMS, the talkSPORT reporter said: "I know Kyle Walker-Peters has been linked with Everton over the course of the last 72 hours, but I'm told 100% he won't be sold this summer.

"Obviously, he can play right and left-back, so he's quite important to their plans. He's a good character around the place as well."

Should Southampton sell Walker-Peters this summer?

Absolutely not. As already mentioned, Walker-Peters is capable of playing at both right-back and left-back, making him such a valuable asset to Hasenhuttl's squad.

He really impressed last season, going on to win his first two England caps, and that did not go unnoticed.

Speaking about Walker-Peters, who is currently valued at around £25m by the CIES Football Observatory, ex-Arsenal player Paul Merson told Sky Sports (via HITC): "The lad has been let go by Tottenham really. Then, he goes there [Southampton] and, for me, he has been absolutely outstanding.

"He thoroughly deserves his debut for England. A good player. He’s learnt a good way to play. I mean, it’s a top club Tottenham, so he is going to learn how to defend very well there and he has done great."

From Walker-Peters' perspective, moving to Everton could also be a sideways step, arguably even a backwards one if going off last season alone. Therefore, maybe it is in everyone's best interest if the England international remains at St Mary's for a bit longer.
