Newcastle United are prepared to spend big this summer if the right player becomes available, claims transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Magpies have already splashed out over £30m on Sven Botman, and Jones says they are open to doing more expensive deals like that.

What is the latest transfer news involving Newcastle?

So far this window, Newcastle have signed Botman, Nick Pope and Matt Targett; however, their business does not look to be finished there.

The Tyneside club are still being linked with a host of other players, including Paris Saint-Germain striker Arnaud Kalimuendo.

According to Media Foot, Newcastle have an interest in the 20-year-old, who has already reportedly been the subject of a failed £17m bid from Leeds United.

Eddie Howe is still in the market for a new centre-forward after a deal to bring Reims youngster Hugo Ekitike to St James' Park collapsed last month.

What has Jones said about Newcastle?

Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that Newcastle and PIF are ready to fork out this summer but only on players who are a good fit for the team.

Speaking to GMS, the journalist said: "I'm not sure it particularly matters about the name. I mean, they are prepared to pay whatever it takes for the right fit for this team and, as it stands, they're pretty open to who comes in."

Who could Newcastle splash out on this summer?

Bayer Leverkusen's Moussa Diaby is the first name that comes to mind, with Jones recently telling GMS that the Frenchman is a priority at St James' Park.

If reports are to be believed, then he is not going to come cheap. Last month, The Sun claimed that Diaby could cost around £50m, and that is if Leverkusen even decide to sell, which does not seem to be their plan right now.

The 23-year-old dazzled for Die Werkself last season, scoring 13 goals and providing 12 assists in 32 Bundesliga appearances.

Another player who could cost the Magpies quite a bit of money is Chelsea striker Armando Broja. Towards the end of June, the MailOnline reported that they had identified the Albania international as an alternative to Ekitike.

It is believed that Chelsea could demand up to £30m for him if they do decide to sanction a sale this summer.

Considering all of the above, you would expect there to be more incomings at St James' Park before the transfer window slams shut.
