Patrick Bamford and Rodrigo are the only genuine senior options Jesse Marsch currently has in that centre-forward position for this season, though Joe Gelhardt and Sam Greenwood featured frequently at Elland Road last season.
What’s the latest at Leeds?
Following the sale of Kalvin Phillips to Manchester City and the likely departure of Raphinha to Barcelona, Leeds will have received around £105m in transfer fees this summer so Marsch can begin to rebuild the squad in his own mould.
United States international Tyler Adams has been brought in from RB Leipzig as a direct replacement to Phillips for £20m, whilst Colombia international winger Luis Sinisterra has signed from PSV Eindhoven for a reported £21m, who looks like being the replacement to Raphinha this summer.
And Crook has revealed that Leeds have made a bid for an unidentified striker.
What has Crook said about Leeds?
He told GIVEMESPORT: “I have been told they’ve got a bid in for an unnamed striker.
“I don’t know who that is, but they want a bit of cover and a bit of competition for Patrick Bamford.”
What next for Leeds?
Crook’s developments are certainly something that will excite Leeds fans, with Jesse Marsch’s side often having to play youth products in that centre-forward position last season, after Bamford suffered with injuries for a large amount of the campaign.
The 28-year-old striker made just ten appearances for the senior side last season, scoring two goals and providing the same amount of assists according to Transfermarkt.
Rodrigo played up front for the Whites on a regular basis last season but failed to impress throughout the campaign, scoring six goals and providing one assist in 34 appearances for the club according to Transfermarkt.
According to Football Insider, the Whites could be considering a move for Blackburn Rovers and Chile striker Ben Brereton Diaz, after scouts from the Elland Road club were present at Rovers’ pre-season friendly clash with Accrington Stanley.
Another striker Leeds have been linked with in the summer transfer window is 20-year-old striker Arnaud Kalimuendo, who is reportedly available for £21m this summer, according to French outlet L’Equipe.
The young striker is currently under contract at Paris Saint-Germain, but has spent the last two seasons out on loan with RC Lens, where he has scored 21 goals and provided six assists in 65 appearances, according to Transfermarkt.
Marsch will be desperate to add a proven centre-forward to his side this season to prevent a repeat of last season’s close shave with relegation to the Championship, and Leeds fans will be hoping that the unnamed striker Crook is referring to will be through the gates of Elland Road sooner rather than later.
