Tottenham are open to signing a number 10 but they're not "desperate" to add one to their squad, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Antonio Conte has enjoyed a productive summer transfer window having been able to bring in five new faces ahead of the upcoming campaign, but Spurs are yet to sign a creative midfielder.

What's the latest news involving Tottenham?

Prior to the market opening for business, the Telegraph claimed that Conte had asked for six new players in order to challenge in both the Premier League and Champions League.

Those positions were a backup goalkeeper, a right wing-back, a centre-back, two midfielders and a forward.

And following the arrivals of Fraser Forster, Clement Lenglet, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison and the imminent addition of Djed Spence, the Tottenham boss will have already filled five of those areas.

Spurs are yet to sign a second midfielder, leaving Bissouma to battle it out for two starting positions alongside Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Rodrigo Bentancur, and Oliver Skipp, although Jones reckons the north Londoners are "open" to bringing in a creator.

What did Jones say about Tottenham?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "I think the 10 is an interesting one for Tottenham. It's a position they are open to, but I don't think they're especially desperate for one right now."

Who could Tottenham sign?

With the number 10 position slowly dying out in the Premier League, it'll be difficult for Spurs to find someone that suits how Conte wants to play.

Christian Eriksen, who's available on a free, appeared to be the perfect man for the role, although Tottenham surprisingly cooled their interest, allowing the Dane to agree a move to Manchester United.

Not only is Eriksen a former player, but he's enjoyed successful under Conte previously, with the Italian stating back in February that he would like to work alongside the ex-Ajax star once again.

But that ship has sailed, leaving Spurs with few options heading into the final six weeks of the window.

The Telegraph, however, believe that Tottenham could target a move for Jesse Lingard, who's a free agent following his release by Manchester United, with the report stating the club see him as a central attacking midfielder, while also someone who could bolster their homegrown numbers.
