West Ham United are at the “front of the queue” in a bid to bring Chelsea striker Armando Broja to the club this season, according to Dean Jones.

The 20-year-old striker spent last season on loan at Southampton from the west London club, but it looks like he could be on the move again this summer.

Broja has drawn interest from a number of clubs over the summer, after an impressive spell at Southampton last season.

West Ham, Everton and Newcastle United have all been linked with a move for the Albanian striker according to the Daily Mail.

There are reports that the Irons could bid £30m for the striker, but prospect of an initial loan has not been ruled out, with David Moyes’ side yet to make an official offer to the Blues as of yet.

The Irons made their third senior signing of the summer transfer window last week, after bringing in midfielder Flynn Downes from Swansea for a reported £12m.

The arrival comes after West Ham had secured the signings of Rennes centre-back Nayef Aguerd and the permanent signing of Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Alphonse Areola, after the Frenchman spent the season on loan at the London Stadium during the last campaign.

And Jones believes that the Irons will be first in line should Broja decide to leave Chelsea this summer.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “It's all part of the discussions that they're having this week.

“If Broja wants to go then they're totally open to the player having a big say in where he actually ends up.

“As it stands, West Ham are basically at the front of the queue.”

Broja would likely solve a striker shortage problem that the Irons have been suffering from for a while, with Michail Antonio having to play in an unfamiliar centre-forward role for the majority of last season.

The 14-time Albania international made 38 appearances whilst on loan at Southampton last season, scoring nine goals and providing one assist in that time, according to Transfermarkt.

The 6 foot 3 beast used his height to his advantage last season, ranking in the top 14% of strikers across Europe’s top five leagues and European competition for aerial duels won per 90 minutes (4.28) last season, according to FBref.

The £19.8m-rated man would likely be an excellent addition for Moyes’ side, and he could provide the tonic for the Irons to break into the top six on a regular basis.
