Martin Braithwaite has enjoyed great success on the pitch in the last few years.

At the start of 2019, Braithwaite was playing in the Championship for Middlesbrough. He scored just three times in 17 matches before forcing through a move to Leganes.

A year later, Braithwaite earned a move to one of the world's biggest clubs in FC Barcelona.

The Norwegian has played 58 times for the Catalan giants, scoring 10 times.

But it's not just on the pitch where Braithwaite has excelled.

Following the departure of Lionel Messi last summer, Braithwaite became Barcelona's richest player, according to a report from Forbes, per Marca.

That may come as a surprise to some people. After all, according to Sport, he is on 'just' €77,000-per-week at Barcelona, which is much less than the likes of Gerard Pique and Sergio Busquets.

So, how did Braithwaite make all his money?

Back in 2017, the striker invested $850,000 dollars into a business called NYCE Companies with his uncle, Philip Michael.

The business has gone from strength to strength in the past few years.

By the end of 2017, it was worth $10m. It had grown to $250m in 2021 and now, according to their website, they now have over $300m in assets under management.

In 2021, Danish outlet B.T. reported they had 1,500 apartments and 500 more under development.

Michael said: “It started with our family having been in the real estate business for a long time. Here you will find that one of the ways you can build a fortune and secure your future financially is by investing in real estate. And that’s what I’ve been doing with my dad and Martin since I came over here.

“Martin’s role is very much about how we do in terms of strategy and vision in the long run. He is involved, but not so involved that it distracts him from football.”

Braithwaite also owns a clothing brand called ‘Trente’ with his wife, which is said to have had enormous success in France, as well as a restaurant called 'Gave', which is located in Barcelona.

Braithwaite had a frustrating 2021/22 campaign. He missed four months of the season with a knee injury and then struggled for game time after recovering.

He may not be a Barca player much longer, with the club believed to be keen on selling the striker this summer.
