NBA 2K23: Release date, cover, the City, editions, price and all you need to know

The long-running NBA franchise’s newest game, NBA 2K23, will be out later this year in four different editions.

The NBA 2K23 game includes four editions. First is the Standard Edition, which is a basic edition that only includes the full game and no extras. There will also be a special Standard Edition that highlights the merging of basketball and music culture.

The Digital Deluxe Edition will feature the cross-gen base game. The Michael Jordan Edition of NBA 2K23 will feature all of the Digital Deluxe Edition bonuses as well as 100K Virtual Currency. The brand-new Championship Edition will include all of the above content plus a 12-month subscription to NBA League Pass.

This year’s game will feature four different athletes, and pre-orders are now available. This means that we officially know when NBA 2K23 will be released. Release Date

The official NBA 2K23 release date is the same on all consoles and will be released on Friday, 9th September 2022.


This year, there are four cover stars. Michael Jordan, a basketball great, is the cover for the Championship Edition and the Michael Jordan Edition. The WNBA Edition box only available at Gamestop features female legends Diana Taurasi and Sue Bird. In the Standard Edition and Digital Deluxe Edition, Devin Booker, a recent favourite, takes the position.


NBA 2K23 can now be pre-ordered from the official site by gamers who can’t wait for the release date to buy the game but are eager for it to arrive.

No matter which edition you select, you will at the very least get the following features when you pre-order NBA 2K23:

The City

NBA 2K has announced that The City will return in NBA 2K23 but with a completely new layout. As reported by their Courtside Report, The City has a variety of new features and improvements this year, including:

  • Traversal Times: The City will be smaller than before and players will be delighted to hear that Fast Travel stations have been added to quickly jump around the City
  • Affiliation Boroughs: Completely revamped boroughs have relocated and turned thematic destinations that really touch upon the true essence of each borough;
  • The Block and Theater: The Block and The Theater are two new places. The theater replaces the warehouse buildings and will serve as a hub to play instant matchmaking games.
  • Dreamville Studio: Founded by Grammy-nominated artist and producer J. Cole, Dreamville Studio is a location MyPLAYERs will gain access to if they prove they have what it takes to befriend J. Cole in MyCAREER during their quest to win over the City.
  • The Arena: New location where to play MyCAREER games, the Arena provides a pre-game atmosphere with a sprawling plaza out front. To prepare for the game, players will enter and show off their fit in front of the waiting media, complete any available quests, and more, followed by taking questions from the media post-game.
  • Event Center and Jordan Challenge Building: The Event Center’s all-new design and look adds a whole new level of flair, fitting for such an important building, while the Jordan Challenge Building will provide players with easy-access to the new in-game mode.

The cost of the Michael Jordan Edition and Championship Edition of NBA 2K23 has been made public. The cost of the game’s regular edition has not yet been disclosed.

The Michael Jordan Edition costs $99.99 / £83,88on PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

The Championship Edition costs $149.99 / £125,83 on PlayStation4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC
