Liverpool ‘could still add another midfielder’ to their ranks this summer after being linked with a move for Jude Bellingham, according to CBS reporter Ben Jacobs.

The Reds have enjoyed a successful start to the transfer window and may still look to bring in further reinforcements before it closes at the end of August.

What is the latest news involving Bellingham?

Reliable German outlet Sport BILD have recently reported that Borussia Dortmund have put a €120 million (£101m) price tag on Bellingham.

That figure would see the Bundesliga giants earn an astronomical profit on the 19-year-old, who they signed for £25m from Championship outfit Birmingham City in 2020.

Bellingham is said to be Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp's key midfield target for next summer but will face extensive competition from the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United.

However, Klopp ruled out an imminent move for the England international before admitting his admiration for him in a press conference this month.

“He’s not on the market, so that’s the first problem with that player,” said the 55-year-old tactician. “Well, the only problem with that player!”

What has Jacobs said about Liverpool?

Liverpool failed to replace Gini Wijnaldum last summer following his departure to Paris Saint-Germain, while the likes of Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Thiago are all into the twilight of their careers.

And Jacobs believes the Anfield outfit could still bolster their engine room ahead of next season while continuing to ‘plan ahead’ for Bellingham’s possible arrival in the future.

In an interview with GiveMeSport, he said: “Liverpool could still add another midfielder, and they will also plan ahead for future windows, with Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham a player Jurgen Klopp really wants.

Who could Liverpool sign this summer?

Liverpool missed out on the signature of Aurélien Tchouameni to Real Madrid early on in the summer, indicating that Klopp is eager to revitalise his options in the middle of the park.

And Italian journalist Rudy Galetti has now stated that the reigning FA Cup holders have entered the race for Sporting CP’s Matheus Nunes.

The 23-year-old supposedly has a release clause of €60m (£50m) in his contract but Sporting are said to be willing to accept an offer around €50m (£43m) to let him leave.

Nunes racked up nine goal contributions in 50 appearances last season and has also been linked to the likes of Man City and Paris Saint-Germain.
