Aston Villa could be a good option for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher if he is allowed to leave west London this summer, says transfer insider Dean Jones.

Steven Gerrard is thought to be a huge fan of Gallagher, and Jones thinks the next month could be a big one for the 22-year-old.

According to the i, Villa's Premier League rivals Everton are keen on Gallagher but Chelsea will not make a decision on his future until later in the summer.

If the Blues do decide to sell, a report from Birmingham Live claims they could ask interested parties for around £30m.

Villa are one side who would probably make a move for Gallagher if he becomes available because Gerrard is an admirer of the England international.

Speaking on the Qué Golazo podcast (via BirminghamLive), the reliable Fabrizio Romano said: "Great player but I'm told Steven Gerrard loves him, he really loves him and rates him highly."

What has Jones said about Gallagher and Villa?

Jones thinks Villa could be a good destination for Gallagher, though he feels Chelsea are currently giving him the chance he has asked for.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: "Conor Gallagher is not going to have too many options if he is allowed to leave Chelsea. Aston Villa would be a good one, but ultimately, let's face it, Conor Gallagher is getting a chance at Chelsea right now. I think the next month is going to be key for him."

Where will Gallagher end up if he does leave Chelsea this summer?

As things stand, it does look like Gallagher will be staying at Chelsea. The former Crystal Palace loanee is currently on their pre-season tour and told Thomas Tuchel it is his intention to remain at the club.

Should some sort of development push Gallagher to the exit door, though, you can certainly see Villa being one potential destination. They are a club showing a lot of ambition right now, while they also have an England icon in Gerrard in charge - those two things may appeal to the Chelsea star.

However, the chance to work under a Chelsea legend like Frank Lampard may be more enticing, so it would not be a surprise if he ended up at Goodison Park if the former European champions become open to a departure, be it a temporary or permanent one. Gallagher's situation is certainly one to keep an eye on this transfer window.
