Wolverhampton Wanderers would ideally like to keep hold of attacking midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White this summer, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The 22-year-old has attracted Premier League interest, with Everton having a bid turned down already this summer.

What’s the latest on Gibbs-White?

Everton have reportedly offered Wolves £20m for the purchase of Gibbs-White, but that has been turned down by the West Midlands club, with Bruno Lage’s side looking at a value closer to £30m if they are to part ways with their youth-academy product.

Southampton, Crystal Palace, and Nottingham Forest have also been linked with a move for the seven-time England U21 international.

Wolves have also offered Gibbs-White a new deal, though it is not thought that the signing of the contract is critical to his future at Molineux, with the offer being more of a show of faith.

The Stafford-born midfielder spent last season out on loan in the Championship with Sheffield United, and his performances in the second-tier have piqued the interest of some top-flight clubs this summer.

And O’Rourke believes that Lage and the club would like to keep hold of Gibbs-White this season, but the midfielder may leave Molineux if he doesn’t sign the new deal on the table for him.

What has O’Rourke said about Gibbs-White?

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I think initially they are keen to keep hold of Morgan Gibbs-White, they do see a future for him at Wolves.

“They have offered him a new contract, which remains on the table, but if Gibbs-White is not going to sign that contract then that’s indicating that he would like to move on in search of regular first team football.”

What next for Gibbs-White?

It seems as though Wolves’ show of faith in Gibbs-White could suggest that he is likely to get a run of games in their Premier League campaign next season, something which will excite fans of the West Midlands club, who are desperate to see the talented youngster finally make his mark for them in the Premier League.

However, judging by the fact that the young attacking midfielder hasn’t signed the deal yet, he may be assessing his options before committing his future to Lage’s side.

The 5 foot 10 attacking midfielder made 40 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring 13 goals (one of which was for Wolves) and providing ten assists according to Transfermarkt, suggesting that he may have earned his chance to get a regular run of games under his belt for a Premier League side.

Whatever Premier League side lines up with Morgan Gibbs-White in their starting XI next season will know that they have a player with bags of potential on their hands, it’s just about the midfielder realising it himself.
