West Ham United are still waiting in the background with an offer for Chelsea striker Armando Broja if he fails his big pre-season test with Chelsea in America.

If the move for Broja does not materialise, the Hammers are being heavily linked with a move for Sassuolo’s Gianluca Scamacca.

Sources are indicating at this stage that Scamacca is a player that manager David Moyes is very much on board with signing and he has actually been on their radar for most part of this calendar year.

Insiders close to the situation are not convinced that Scamacca sees West Ham as the best move for him though, after previously being linked to AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.

It has been a frustrating window for the Hammers, who were hopeful of improving the squad early in this window to encourage the current squad and keep competition for places intense on the back of last season’s success.

The contract situation around Tomas Soucek is causing frustration too, while there is some apprehension that Chelsea might still bid for Declan Rice.
