Jake Paul's upcoming opponent Hasim Rahman Jr has recently suffered his first professional boxing loss in a USNBC heavyweight title bout in a rather unfortunate fashion.

The heavyweight Rahman Jr, son of former world champion Hasim Rahman, is set to fight Paul at Madison Square Garden on August 6.

The pair already have some history with each other, as they went back and forth in a sparring session before the YouTube star's fight against Nate Robinson in November 2020.

Paul would have surely watched Rahman's loss in April to see how his opponent's only loss came about and try to find a weakness in his style.

Rahman faced Kenzie Morrison, the son of boxing star Tommy Morrison, who starred alongside Sylvester Stalone's Rocky as Tommy Gunn.

Rahman was getting the better of Morrison throughout most of the fight, with all three judges' scorecards being 40:36 in his favour.

In the fifth round, however, Rahman kept his hands down too long and Morrison threw a quick left and right combination, stunning his opponent, before sending the defenceless fighter to the mat with another big hit.

Quite surprisingly, Rahman managed to get up, but he was still shaken up as Morrison forced him on the ropes leading to the referee stopping the fight as he felt the former was out of it.

Rahman was clearly angry at what he felt to be a premature stoppage, but the referee was likely justified as he was too passive in defending himself.

Jake Paul has recently shared that while Rahman Jr came out on top in their sparring session two years ago, the outcome bears no importance in their upcoming fight.

Paul spoke about his time with Rahman: "He was saying 'you'll never be a professional fighter'. Now two years later, we will actually get to see who the professional fighter is."
