UFC star Michael Chandler has provided fans with an update on his next move in the promotion.

Since entering the Ultimate Fighting Championship a few years back, Michael Chandler has given us non-stop entertainment. He claimed to be here for a good time, not a long time - and he’s certainly lived up to that reputation thus far.

The 36-year-old has had four fights with the company and has gone 2-2, starting with a vicious TKO win over Dan Hooker at the start of 2021. He went on to challenge for the vacant UFC lightweight title just a couple of months later and while he did end up getting finished by Charles Oliveira, the former Bellator champ showed a lot of heart and even came close to finishing ‘Do Bronx’ in the first round.

After that he had another war on his hands in the form of a three-round battle with Justin Gaethje, and after coming up on the losing end once again, some wondered whether his time at the top of the division was over.

He soon put those worries to rest at Madison Square Garden last November by knocking UFC legend Tony Ferguson out cold with a monstrous kick to the face.

The big question now, of course, is what will he do next?
There’s been a lot of speculation surrounding that but in the following Q&A, the veteran was able to clear a few things up.

“Neither [Poirier or Fiziev for his next fight]. Title eliminator.”

“No [he won’t get the next title shot]… but I’ll fight like heck to get in the running”

When asked about whether he’s considered jumping up to welterweight, ‘Iron Mike’ had the following response.

“Every single time I make 155”

Who will it be?

Chandler has called for a meeting with Islam Makhachev, potentially for an interim belt, as Charles Oliveira continues to flirt with the idea of a showdown with Conor McGregor.

The Makhachev idea seems unlikely and even though he dismissed the possibility, we think the most likely outcome for Chandler is going to be a collision with Dustin Poirier.

They clearly don’t like each other, they had to be separated at UFC 276 earlier this month, and it’s one of the most intriguing match-ups you could make at 155 pounds.
