Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier entertained us all with their enthralling trilogy in UFC in recent years, with the unfortunate injury to McGregor seeing him away from the Octagon for over a year and still counting.

He is looking like he is ready to come back, talking about potential fights and showing off videos of him back in training and preparing.

There’s no concrete leads as to when we will see him back in the Octagon, but it is certainly edging closer and we can’t wait to see the Irishman back entertaining us all.

In his trilogy with Poirier, McGregor won the first fight way back in 2014 at UFC 178, with it taking until 2021 to see the pair have their rematch, with Poirier getting revenge at UFC 257.

UFC 264 saw the pair fight it out to win the trilogy, with both having a victory over one another. Unfortunately, the bout ended early with McGregor breaking his leg horrifically, putting him on the sidelines for a prolonged period of time.

A major factor of combat sports is the trash talking the fighters do before the match. There’s always one that will come off looking silly and in this case, it was McGregor.

Before the third and final fight with Poirier, at a press conference, he delivered one of his best pre-fight speeches of his career on the eve of the huge night, providing us with unreal entertainment.

Talking into the microphone after being asked what the fight meant to him, Notorious said: “Joe, in 16 hours’ time, this man is going to learn that if you disrespect a person’s kindness and take it as a weakness, you must pay. Tomorrow night, I’m going to make this man pay with his life and I mean it. You are dead in that Octagon tomorrow night.”

He didn’t take any prisoners with that speech, telling us exactly what he thought and threatened his opponent with his life.

Obviously he looks silly for saying that given how the fight went, but before the showdown it was iconic and still is despite the result.

We can’t wait to see him back in the Octagon and firing his brutal words to his opponents once again, bringing back prime McGregor to our screens.

After losing three of his last four fights, the Irishman will be doing everything he can to be in peak condition to rectify his recent record.
