At SummerSlam later this month, The Usos will put their WWE Undisputed Tag Team Titles on the line against The Street Profits.

Following the controversial ending to the pair’s bout at Money in the Bank, where replays showed Montez Ford’s shoulder had clearly been off the mat for the winning pinfall, a rematch has been made for this month’s big event in Nashville.

The match has also been given the added stipulation of a special guest referee, but WWE are yet to reveal who will be donning the black and white stripes to officiate the bout.

GiveMeSport runs down five possible contenders to be the man (or woman) put in the middle of these two teams.

Omos

The big man’s involvement in their Raw segment this past week seemed a little random, but perhaps it was the first step of including Omos in a story that sees him as the special guest ref. The Colossus is without a clear direction right now after losing his rivalry with Bobby Lashley, but you can expect WWE want him on the SummerSlam card.

While it may not seem like a huge appeal for him to be added into what is an already entertaining tag team feud, he does – at least in WWE’s eyes – feel like a huge attraction and ideal for the stadium stage. Surely Omos would be one the biggest referees in WWE history, too?

Jerry Lawler

Warning ahoy, SummerSlam takes place in Nashville, Tennessee, just three hours or so from Memphis. And where’s there’s Memphis, there’s Jerry Lawler. WWE never seem to ignore an opportunity to bring in the Hall of Famer, even though he has somewhat long past his sell by date.

This feels like an easy slot to force a Lawler appearance into, where he’d still get a pop from his home state crowd, and those fans of a previous generation who may be swayed by SummerSlam’s nostalgic tones. However, his presence doesn’t really add anything to the match nor the rivalry.

Sami Zayn

If WWE are intending on doubling-down on the heel team in the lead to this match, then Sami is almost the perfect fit to be the man in the middle of these two warring teams. As an honouree member of The Bloodline, Zayn has been one of the most entertaining aspects of SmackDown in recent weeks, and this would only open up more entertainment in the build to the bout.

Then on the night you can go one of two ways. Either Zayn becomes the hero for his new crew by scheming to help The Usos regain their crown. Or he could be the fall guy for Jimmy and Jay and be the unintended reason why they lose the belts. Either way it would be a lot of fun.

Tamina

Talking of Bloodline, there’s still some members that are yet to be added to the faction that Jimmy and Jey could call on. One is little bro, Solo Sikoa who’s making waves in NXT right now, but that might be a little early, so why not ready-made enforcer Tamina?

It seems a little suspicious that this week she’s been talking up her family links and possibility of joining The Bloodline on Ryan Satin’s Out of Character, possibly foreshadowing a reunion of some sort in the future. Brining her in as ref could then be the ideal way and would give something for Tamina to chew on.

Big E

Probably the wishful thinking option. However, let’s imagine for a second that his neck is in a stable enough condition where E can at least be in the ring without any immediate danger to his recovery. Bringing back the former WWE Champion would get massive pop inside the stadium and make for a feel-good moment for this year’s SummerSlam.

Add to that his long history with The Usos – who he considers The New Day’s greatest rivals – and the legacy he, Kofi and Woods have already spoke about passing on to The Street Profits, then you’ve got a big time moment worthy of a big time match for the biggest party of the summer.
