Leicester City “probably need to sell” Belgium international Youri Tielemans to raise transfer funds for the club this summer, according to talkSPORT’s Alex Crook.

The £120k-per-week star has just one year left remaining on his deal at the King Power Stadium and has been linked with moves away from the club this summer, with Arsenal interested in the midfielder.

What’s the latest on Tielemans?

According to Ben Jacobs, Arsenal have already agreed personal terms with Tielemans, but the club are yet to place a formal offer to Leicester.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT he said: “Tielemans wants to move to Arsenal, has already agreed terms, and is available at a bargain price of under £35m.

“Arsenal haven’t placed a formal bid yet but remain in contact with Tielemans.”

This would suggest that a move for the 52-time Belgium international is on the cards, and that Brendan Rodgers’ side will have to identify a replacement for the 25-year-old.

And Crook believes that the Foxes will need the funds raised by Tielemans transfer in order to make signings of their own this summer.

What has Crook said about Tielemans?

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Leicester probably need to sell Tielemans because they haven't got any kind of transfer kitty, as I understand it.

“So, if they could raise some money, then that would allow Brendan Rodgers to bring a couple players in.

“I think they need that just to refresh the squad.”

What next for Leicester?

Despite not signing any players thus far this summer, Rodgers’ side have been linked with a number of transfer targets throughout the summer.

Chelsea centre-back Levi Colwill has been linked with a move this summer, but the Daily Mail report that the move is dependent on the club selling former Southampton defender Jannik Vestergaard first.

The same report states that the 19-year-old was a loan target for many clubs this season, but with Chelsea’s centre-back transfer targets this summer, it seems unlikely that Colwill has a long-term future in west London and a move to Leicester could be the ideal move for both club and player.

Meanwhile, L’Equipe (via LeicestershireLive) have reported that the Foxes have made ‘first approaches’ to Ligue 1 side AS Monaco over a move for winger Sofiane Diop this summer.

The same report says that Diop has four years remaining on his deal in France, and could be available for around £20m this summer.

Whether Tielemans stays or leaves the King Power Stadium this season, Rodgers will be eager for the saga to be sewn up soon, so that he can begin making plans and signings for the 2022/23 campaign ahead.
