Frank Warren has revealed why he believes Tyson Fury could return to the boxing ring in the future.

Ever since he knocked Dillian Whyte out to retain the lineal heavyweight crown, Tyson Fury has been going back and forth regarding his future in the sport. He’s adamant that he’ll stay retired one minute, and then the next he’s talking about coming back to the squared circle.

It’s always hard to get a good read on ‘The Gypsy King’ but as far as his promoter Frank Warren goes, he knows Fury better than most.

He’s been by his side for years now and even though nobody can quite climb inside his head, you’d have to imagine Warren can make some kind of educated guess.

During a recent interview with talkSPORT, the veteran promoter didn’t hold back when giving his thoughts on what could be next for Tyson.

“It’s quite intriguing really. Everybody is interested, including me and Tyson [Fury]. I think AJ has a tough fight, I don’t know what he can add to his armoury to beat this guy. I think Usyk has his number.”

“I think whoever wins it, in my heart but I might be wrong, but I think he will come back to fight the winner.

“I have [had those conversations]. I don’t want to get into it too much at the moment.

“Tyson is a fighting man, he loves fighting. He’s training continuously and at the end of the day, when you are training and training really hard you want a goal to train for.

“His goal would be to fight the winner… that’s my opinion.”

The other option

Of course, as Warren noted, there’s a certain appeal behind the idea of Tyson Fury coming back to take on the winner of Oleksandr Usyk vs Anthony Joshua. After all, he could become the undisputed heavyweight champion and cement his legacy as one of the best of all-time.

On the flip side, the easier option would be to meet Francis Ngannou in a mixed rules crossover bout that probably wouldn’t count as an official fight on his record.
