Melbourne Victory fans chanted ‘You’re getting sacked in the morning’ at Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag during the first half of Friday’s pre-season friendly.

Ten Hag made three changes from the team that thrashed Liverpool 4-0 on Tuesday for Man Utd’s second pre-season match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Tom Heaton, Harry Maguire and Anthony Elanga came in for the injured David de Gea, Raphael Varane and Marcus Rashford.

Meanwhile, starting on the bench for the Australia side was former United star Nani. The 35-year-old, who is absolutely ripped these days, signed for the club earlier this week.

United were expected to win the game but it was the hosts who took the lead in the fifth minute through Chris Ikonomidis following a swift counter-attack.

Victor Lindelof and Maguire were both caught out of position as Melbourne Victory capitalised in their opponents’ slack defending.

Melbourne Victory fans: 'You're getting sacked in the morning!'

Melbourne Victory fans couldn’t resist having a bit of fun at Ten Hag’s expense.

Per the Manchester Evening News’s Samuel Luckhurst and other journalists at the game, the home fans were heard chanting: ‘You’re getting sacked in the morning’ at the Dutch coach.

Ten Hag will have been hoping for a more convincing display from his players, especially after such an emphatic performance against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool earlier in the week.

But it’s a timely reminder for the Dutchman, his coaching staff and his players that there’s an awful lot of work still to be done ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.

Scott McTominay equalises

But United equalised thanks to Scott McTominay's deflected equaliser shortly before the break.

Anthony Martial gives Man Utd the lead

Anthony Martial then put the visitors 2-1 up with another goal shortly afterwards from close range.

Ten Hag will surely be delighted with his players' response.

Lisandro Martinez is joining Man Utd

Meanwhile, United are set to be bolstered by the arrival of Argentine centre-back Lisandro Martinez, who has agreed a five-year deal with the Red Devils, according to talkSPORT.

The Ajax defender, 24, will become one of United’s first-choice centre-backs alongside captain Maguire.
