What’s the latest at Leeds?

It’s been an incredibly hectic summer at Leeds, with the club selling arguably their two most prized assets in the squad during this transfer window.

England midfielder Kalvin Phillips has moved on to Manchester City for a fee of £45m, whilst Brazilian winger Raphinha has left for Barcelona for £56m.

The club have acted swiftly to replace the former Elland Roads stars, with United States international midfielder Tyler Adams arriving from RB Leipzig for around £20m, which looks to be a direct replacement for Phillips.

Meanwhile, Colombian winger Luis Sinisterra has arrived from Feyenoord for a rumoured fee of £21m, with the club replacing Raphinha before the Brazilian’s departure from Elland Road was confirmed.

Sonny Perkins has now also joined the Yorkshire giants, with the forward making the move up north from West Ham.

Marsch now has three genuine first-team wingers at his quality, in Sinisterra, Jack Harrison and Daniel James, suggesting that they are actually well stocked in the wide department.

And Jones believes that the club would agree, with the Whites being excited to have all three wingers available to them this season.

What has Jones said about Leeds?

He told GIVEMESPORT: “They [Leeds] know they're going to need different options this season.

“And though the roles of those three players are interchangeable, they're all going to have to fit in in different ways.

“I think that Leeds are excited to have all of them available to them.”

Will the wingers perform for Leeds next season?

Despite arriving at Elland Road through completely different means, Leeds’ wingers all complement each other, with all three of them having various different talents to one and other.

Sinisterra will likely be the most productive in terms of goal output if he can reproduce his Eredivisie form in the Premier League, having scored 23 goals and producing 14 assists in 49 appearances last season, according to Transfermarkt.

James is more of a dribbler, and will get the ball up the field with his pace, and this is shown by the fact that he ranked in the top 15% of attacking midfielders/wingers across Europe’s top five leagues and European competition for progressive carries per 90 minutes last season (4.77), according to FBref.

Harrison is a player well suited to Leeds’ high pressing system, and will be the most likely of the wingers to win the ball back when out of possession, and this is shown by the fact that he ranked in the top 9% of attacking midfielders/wingers for blocks per 90 minutes last season (1.81), according to FBref.

Leeds might have a tough job on their hands replacing Raphinha, but with the three wingers that they have remaining at the club, they might just be able to fire Marsch’s side to at least a mid-table finish this season.
