Celtic ‘are interested’ in Paris Saint-Germain attacking midfielder Edouard Michut, according to Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph.

The highly-rated 19-year-old has been linked with a move to Parkhead in recent days after growing frustrated at his lack of first-team opportunities at his boyhood club.

What is the latest news involving Michut?

Joseph’s employers recently reported that Celtic are ‘preparing an offer’ in the region of £2 million for Michut as Ange Postecoglou looks to make further additions to his side.

However, the Greek-Australian tactician instantly rebuked those claims when asked about the speculation in an interview

“Yeah, good player, but no,” said Postecoglou. “I have an interest in every good footballer in the world, but there is a limited market I can tap into.”

The 56-year-old had previously revealed that Bhoys are still looking to bring in "two or three" players during the summer transfer window, although it remains to be seen if Michut is one of them.

What has Joseph said about Michut?

Joseph has informed GiveMeSport that despite Postecoglou’s comments, Sky Sports still believe Celtic have Michut on their radar at this moment in time.

He told GMS: “As we put the story out, he knocked it back straight away that evening. But we understand that Celtic are interested in Edouard Michut.

“The way that Postecoglou was definitely aware of him, you could tell because he said, ‘good player, but no’, I think his quote was. We understand other clubs are also interested; Celtic were just one that we were able to name. And I think there's La Liga interest there as well.”

Who is Edouard Michut?

Michut is an attacking midfielder blessed with technical ability and was described as an “important player” for PSG by ex-Newcastle United star Yohan Cabaye.

"Edouard Michut is an important player for the club and this is not just talk," explained Cabaye, who is now the sporting coordinator of the club's academy, when speaking to RMC in December.

Nevertheless, the France Under-19 international has been limited to just eight senior appearances for the capital club and is reportedly eager to move away.

Talent scout Jacek Kulig has also dubbed Michut a “creative playmaker”, and with Tom Rogic departing Celtic on a free transfer, he could be seen as the ideal successor.

It remains to be seen if the Hoops do in fact make a move for Michut, though, or whether Postecoglou was being honest in his assessment of Celtic’s stance towards him.
