Liverpool picked up their first win in 2022/23 pre-season on Friday afternoon.

The Reds were beaten 4-0 by Manchester United a few days prior, but returned to winning ways against Crystal Palace.

Goals from Jordan Henderson and Mohamed Salah secured a 2-0 victory for Jurgen Klopp's side at the Singapore National Stadium.

There were a significant number of positives for Liverpool to take from the pre-season outing, one of the biggest being the performance of Fabio Carvalho.

The 19-year-old sensation completed a £5 million move to Merseyside from Fulham this summer after enjoying a breakthrough campaign in 2021/22.

In 36 Championship games last season, Carvalho scored 10 goals and assisted a further eight, earning himself a place in the division's PFA Team of the Year.

Yeah, the Portugal Under-21 international is a real talent and he made that clear for all to see against Palace.

After replacing the equally impressive Harvey Elliott at half-time, Carvalho grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and showed exactly why Klopp was so eager to sign him up.

The teenage sensation's touch throughout his cameo was magnificent and he looked as sharp as anyone on the pitch when it came to passing.

Carvalho was just inches away from his first Liverpool goal as well, but his curling effort after some excellent build-up play was saved brilliantly by Vicente Guaita.

His exciting individual highlights - which can be viewed below - are even earning him comparisons with prime Philippe Coutinho.

The kid looks a special, special talent. In Carvalho and Elliott, Liverpool have two of the brightest prospects in world football and we expect them to both get a lot of first-team minutes in 2022/23.

Carvalho has the confidence and swagger about his play that will seriously help him in his bid to become a modern day superstar.

Like Elliott, he's also a versatile player, one capable of operating centrally or out wide, which will prove invaluable to Liverpool and Klopp down the years.

And let's not forget the maximum they will have paid for Carvalho is £7.7 million if certain add-ons are activated in the future.

If that's not bargain central in the modern game, we don't know what is.

Liverpool have just two more pre-season games left against RB Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg, before they take on Manchester City in the Community Shield on July 30th.

Will we see a lot more of Carvalho in those three games? After watching his dazzling display against Palace, that looks a certainty and who knows, he may even secure a spot in the starting XI for the Reds' first Premier League match of the season, which is away at his former club Fulham.
