Marcus Rashford lives, breathes and bleeds Manchester United.

A local lad who has sported the famous red jersey since his youth, Rashford first joined up with the United academy back in 2005 and has gone onto enjoy a fairytale rise through the ranks ever since.

It's astonishing to think that Rashford is already 24 years old when you consider that it feels just like yesterday when he announced himself to the world with two goals against Midtjylland.

Rashford: Man Utd through and through

And since that magical evening at Old Trafford back in 2016, he simply hasn't looked back, continuing to inspire young boys and girls dreaming of representing the Red Devils one day.

After all, every fan ultimately wants at least one local player in their starting XI deep down because, in many ways, it makes it easier for them to live the Premier League dream vicariously through them.

Plus, it often means that they just 'get it' a lot more with players like Rashford, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Phil Foden having been around the very culture and essence of the fans who would later cheer their name as a supporter themselves.

Rashford mugs off Man City

And boy was that apparent when Rashford was asked about which clubs he hated as part of an interview with UNINTERRUPTED that also happened to feature Liverpool fan LeBron James.

It's no secret that United's biggest Premier League rivals are Liverpool and Manchester City, so it won't come as any surprise that Rashford name-dropped both sides when answering the question.

However, it will undoubtedly bring a smile to the faces of United fans when they see the manner in which Rashford compared what Liverpool and City mean to the club as local rivals.

"Liverpool. I don't like Liverpool, and City," Rashford replied. "Obviously Liverpool have history so it is a bit more bitter but, with City, it's like you don't like them but you don't really have a massive reason not to like them.

"You just grow up and it's two Manchester sides, one wears light blue and one wears red. But the rivalry with Liverpool, it feels much more."

Take a bow, Marcus

He couldn't have answered that any better, could he?

Liverpool and United are the two most decorated teams in English football history, full stop, so it's no wonder that both the Old Trafford faithful and Rashford feel the most animosity towards the club with whom they exchange time on 'the perch'.

However, the real brilliance in Rashford's comments is when he insinuates that City have no history compared to United and Liverpool, excellently patronising the significance of the rivalry.

It's exactly the sort of narrative that Sir Alex Ferguson himself pedalled when he referred to the Citizens as being like 'noisy neighbours' when they started to become a threat after Sheikh Mansour's takeover.

Now, of course, Rashford does have respect for City just in the way he does Liverpool, but if there was any indication of just how much of a United fan he really is, then you needn't look any further than his superb comments.

You love to see it.
