Tyson Fury has recently revealed the full extent of his training camp ahead of the showdown with Deontay Wilder.

Originally, Tyson Fury had plans to put pen to paper on a spectacular showdown with Anthony Joshua.

However, Fury lost an arbitration battle which deemed that he owed Deontay Wilder another bout.

Fury would shock the world in the first outing against Wilder. Despite blatantly winning the fight, the judges deemed it a draw.

In the second outing, it was a little more convincing. From start to finish, ‘The Gypsy King’ ran through Wilder and was able to put him away in the seventh round.

The pair would then have their trilogy bout in October 2021. Many were surprised as to why Fury fought considering the circumstances leading up to the fight.

Speaking at a public event, per talkSPORT, Fury revealed the full details of his horrible preparations for the fight with Wilder.

Tyson Fury scored back-to-back knockout victories over Deontay Wilder last year

“I’m in training camp for Wilder 3. All of a sudden, bang, the full team comes down with COVID in July.

“So we go home, Paris is heavily pregnant with our sixth child at the time and we have this little baby.

“She had a heart condition, a rare heart condition when she was born. And they couldn’t stop her heart from beating fast. So they transferred her from Lancaster to Alder Hey in Liverpool.

“I didn’t really know how serious it was. I’m out training for Wilder 3, while I’m at Alder Hey Hospital sleeping on the floor.

It’s never easy training for a big fight like Wilder with so much happening personally.

Tyson continued: “I’m trying to train for Wilder running round the hospital. I get a phone call from Paris, ‘Where are you?’ She’s screaming, hysterical. She said, ‘The baby’s died.’

“I’m three miles away, trying to sprint back to the hospital and she’s screaming. I said, ‘It’s gonna be alright, don’t worry, let the doctors do their work.’"

Thankfully, baby Athena was resuscitated and pulled through and the family were able to take her home where she has grown into a healthy baby.

In the end, somehow, Fury would go on to fight Wilder for the third time. It would go down as the best fight of the three.

Fury would go on to pick ‘The Bronze Bomber’ apart before putting him away in the 11th round.

Fury was last seen in action in April this year against Dillian Whyte. He would go on to defeat Whyte with a vicious uppercut deep into the sixth round. Immediately after the fight, Tyson confirmed his retirement from the sport of boxing.

However, Anthony Joshua is set to fight Oleksandr Usyk next month for a second time. Whoever comes out on top could persuade Tyson to come back for one last dance.

With everything that went on leading up to the Wilder fight, anyone else would’ve taken the easy way out and withdraw from the bout.

That is why he will go down as one of the greatest heavyweights of our generation.
