Raheem Sterling's seven-year association with Manchester City came to an end this summer as he signed for Chelsea in a £47.5 million deal.

Sterling signed for City all the way back in 2015.

He went on to establish himself as one of the greatest players in the club history.

Sterling made 339 appearances for The Citizens, hitting the back of the net 131 times.

He helped them to 11 trophies, including four Premier League's and a FA Cup triumph in 2019.

Footage has emerged of Sterling deciding against signing a City shirt following his departure.

Sterling was recently signing shirts for fans during Chelsea's pre-season tour of the United States.

He had no problem engaging with Chelsea fans, taking pictures with them and signing their shirts.

But, when an individual asked Sterling to sign their City shirt, he wasn't having any of it.

"No", Sterling appears to say after taking a look at the City jersey, before continuing to sign Chelsea shirts.

His actions were met with approval by one supporter in attendance, who cheered when Sterling rejected the City fan.

Was Sterling disrespectful to City? Or did he have every right to refuse to sign the shirt? You decide.

Sterling left City on good terms and probably meant no ill will towards the club. It's likely he didn't want to risk angering Chelsea fans just days after joining.

The 27-year-old couldn't contain his excitement after his transfer to Chelsea was announced,

"First and foremost, it's a pleasure to be here. I've obviously achieved a lot in my career so far, but there is still so much more to achieve, and I'm really looking forward to doing that in a Chelsea shirt under Thomas' management," he told the club's official website, per football.london.

"London is my home and where it all started for me, and it's amazing I now have the opportunity to play in front of friends and family week in, week out at Stamford Bridge. I'm really looking forward to meeting the fans there soon.

"I do want to take the opportunity to thank Todd, Behdad, the ownership group, Thomas, and all involved in the process of getting me here. I can't wait to get going now and continue to do my talking on the pitch."

Sterling did not appear in The Blues' pre-season match against Club America on Saturday evening. He could make his first Chelsea appearance against Charlotte on Wednesday night.
