The developers of FIFA 23 have finally revealed the official cover for their all-new Ultimate Edition, the most lucrative version of the game.

Gamers across the globe have been waiting months for updates from EA Sports regarding what will be the last game under the name 'FIFA', which will change to 'EA Sports FC' from next year onwards with the Canadian gaming giants set to go in their own direction.

That being said, there is an emphasis on championing and pioneering Women's Football for this year's title. Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe has been the frontman of the FIFA series for a while now, making his debut on the cover back in FIFA 21.

However, he now has a co-star as part of EA's campaign to promote their most valuable element of FIFA 23, which is set to offload several freebies as part of the higher retail price.

Last year, the developers gave us two different versions of the game. At the time of writing, it is not yet known how many editions will be brought to the fingertips of players. What we do know, is that the Ultimate Edition, as before, will sit at the top of the FIFA tree.

Captioned as 'two phenomenal forces up front', EA announced via their official Twitter account that Mbappe would be partnered with Chelsea Women striker and Australia international Sam Kerr, the first time in the game's history that a female footballer will feature on the cover of one of their games.

Rather than go for the standard photograph in a well-lit studio, the developers opted to go for a stunning sketch of the two forwards. Kerr has been lauded by EA thanks to her 24 goals in 26 appearances for the Blues (via FBRef) in the Women's Super League and Women's Champions League combined last season.

Sadly, this is all we got for now, with gamers being made to wait until the full reveal trailer on Wednesday 20th July, leaving gamers on tenterhooks.

With FIFA 22 steadily coming to the end of its life with the 2021/22 campaign coming to an end just 6 weeks ago, attention is now shifting to what EA have up their sleeves.

As mentioned, details are still limited. This cover is all we have for now. However, it is just another reason to get super excited about FIFA 23.
