West Ham's deal to bring Gianluca Scamacca to the London Stadium is "moving forward", according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Hammers' main striker target this summer appears to be Chelsea's Armando Broja, but Jones says they also have proposals in place for the Sassuolo forward.

What is the latest news involving Scamacca?

As reported by Sky Sports, Sassuolo's chief executive Giovanni Carnevali recently claimed that West Ham have made a £33.9m bid for Scamacca.

The 23-year-old is not the only striker that the east London club are currently targeting, though.

Multiple outlets, including The Guardian, have stated that West Ham have made a £30m-plus offer for Broja.

Last month, Sky Sports claimed that the Albanian was David Moyes' top forward target as the Scotsman looks to bolster his options up top.

What has Jones said about Scamacca to West Ham?

Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that West Ham are making progress in their bid to sign Scamacca this summer. However, the journalist is not sure they want both the Italy international and Broja.

Speaking to GMS, he said: "Proposals are in place for Scamacca; it's definitely moving forward. I just wonder if they're pushing Broja and Scamacca to the line before they pull out of one of them."

Do West Ham need to sign Scamacca and Broja?

Probably not. They already have Michail Antonio, who is a very capable striker.

He did go through some goal droughts last season, but the Jamaica international was still able to reach double figures in the Premier League. Given that, there is not a need for West Ham to sign both Scamacca and Broja unless Moyes plans to change formation.

With Antonio being the only recognised No.9 currently in their squad, however, they definitely need to bring in at least one of the two.

Broja looks the safer option having already played a season of Premier League football, while it also looks like that he could cost just slightly less than Scamacca.

That does not mean West Ham fans would say no to Scamacca, though, and it is not impossible for the Hammers to end up with both.

Last season, the Sassuolo star scored 16 goals in 36 Serie A appearances, bagging against the likes of champions AC Milan and Napoli, so he would still be a very good signing.

Be it Broja, Scamacca or both, West Ham need to buy at least one new No.9 before the transfer window closes.
