Tottenham defender Japhet Tanganga will be in Italy this week to discuss a loan move to AC Milan, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

The £25,000 per-week star is likely to struggle for regular game-time under Antonio Conte next term and could therefore leave before September's deadline.

What's the latest news involving Tanganga?

Having expressed their interest back in January, the reigning Serie A champions have now opened talks with Tottenham over a move for the versatile defender.

Sky Sports believe that Spurs would be prepared to let Tanganga to leave on loan having already bolstered their defensive options with the addition of Clement Lenglet.

The academy graduate, who played 19 times last season, has been linked with Premier League clubs Bournemouth and Southampton, but Sheth reckons that Tanganga's team are set to fly into Milan to discuss further talks over a loan switch to San Siro.

What did Sheth say about Tanganga?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "There's talk of Tanganga leaving Tottenham following the arrival of Lenglet.

"Tanganga's game-time was quite limited with the existing defence and with the addition of Lenglet, who you expect to go into the team because he's been brought in on loan, so you'd think that was a sign that Conte sees him in his first XI.

"But in regard to Tanganga, I've been told his representatives are due in Milan this week to discuss a loan move to AC Milan."  

Would AC Milan be a good move for Tanganga?

Game-time permitted aside; on paper, this looks like an outstanding move for the ex-England Under-21 star.

We've already seen the upturn in fortunes of Fikayo Tomori following his move to Serie A, with the former Chelsea defender going from a bit-part player at Stamford Bridge to a regular for Milan, which has allowed him to return to the England squad and become a league title winner.

And while Tanganga might be some way off a first Three Lions call-up, moving to Italy will hopefully allow him to gain regular experience in a top league, with the added bonus of playing in the Champions League.

Milan have other top centre-backs like Pierre Kalulu and Simon Kjaer at their disposal, but the recent departure of Alessio Romagnolo to Lazio should allow Tanganga to compete for a regular starting spot.
