A massive bout for UFC legend Nate Diaz has reportedly been âverbally agreedâ for the upcoming UFC 279 card.
There had been a number of fights proposed by both fans and fighters themselves for the MMA great, including Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler, but arguably an even bigger test for the Diaz brother awaits.
Whilst the fight has not officially been confirmed by the company themselves, it is certainly one that could be a smash hit for the UFC in box office terms.

Nate Diazâs Next Fight

Brett Okamoto of ESPN recently confirmed that Diaz will be entering the octagon at UFC 279 to face rising star Khamzat Chimaev:
MMAFighting has since added further context to the story, noting: âDiaz will meet Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 279, which takes place Sept. 10 at T-Mobile Arena, ESPN.com reported and a person with knowledge of the booking told MMA Fighting. Chimaev told ESPN.com via rep Majdi Shammas, âI am going to handle Nate Diazâs funeral.ââ
This is easily the biggest fight of Khamzatâs career thus far and presents an absolutely massive challenge for Diaz.
Many professional MMA fighters have already reacted to the news, with many predicting absolute destruction from Chimaev.
Former ONE Championship and UFC fighter Ben Askren noted on Twitter:
Current UFC fighter Belal Muhammad also chimed in, saying that he hopes that both Leon Edwards and Diaz ruin everyoneâs plans:
Muhammad was referring to the upcoming UFC Welterweight Championship bout between Edwards and Kamaru Usman, as many fans are hoping we will at some point see the champ Usman taking on Chimaev.
Diaz vs Chimaev for September is a big fight on paper, and the hype beforehand will certainly get into overload around August time!
