Leeds United are targeting a striker and intend to keep the rest of their current squad this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

It has been an extremely busy transfer window at Elland Road so far, with no less than six additions and seven departures from Jesse Marsch’s squad as of now.

What’s the latest on Leeds?

Leeds’ highest profile transfers this summer have been departures, with both midfielder Kalvin Phillips and winger Raphinha leaving the club for Manchester City and Barcelona respectively, with the Whites bringing in approximately £100m from the two sales this summer.

However, Marsch has sought to replace his two key players from last season, with the arrivals of United States international Tyler Adams from RB Leipzig, and Feyenoord’s Colombian international in Luis Sinisterra, for a combined reported fee of £41m.

The club’s biggest signing of the summer so far has been the acquisition of attacking midfielder Brenden Aaronson, who has joined the club for a reported £24.7m from Red Bull Salzburg.

And Romano believes that the club are now happy with the squad they have, but still want to add a striker to what they currently have at their disposal.

What has Romano said about Leeds?

He told GIVEMESPORT: “The idea at Leeds is to keep the current squad and to add a striker.

“They wanted [Charles] De Ketelaere from Club Brugge, but he’s now getting closer towards AC Milan so they want a striker and to keep their current team.”

What next for Leeds?

It looks as though for the majority of their transfer business, the club are happy with what they have done, and the shape of the squad probably won’t look too much different to what it does today on the opening day of the Premier League season in August.

Leeds will however be hoping they can get the signature of a striker over the line before the start of the season, with Patrick Bamford spending a large proportion of the season on the sideline through injury, with Rodrigo proving an ineffective presence as the loan striker.

In terms of a striker target, the club have looked at the prospect of signing Paris Saint-Germain’s Arnaud Kalimuendo for a reported £21m.

However, transfer insider Dean Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that figures at the club are divided over whether he would be an astute signing for Marsch’s side this season.

Leeds fans will be hoping that if they are not to sign Kalimuendo, they will be linked with somebody else and get a striker through the door soon, with the Premier League kick-off approaching.
