Tottenham Hotspur have now set their sights on offloading outcasts ahead of welcoming any more fresh faces to Hotspur Way, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

Managing director Fabio Paratici, who has been overseeing Spurs' business since his appointment last summer, has been busy overhauling Antonio Conte's squad ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Who could leave Spurs before the transfer deadline?

According to the Evening Standard, up to nine players could cut ties with Tottenham ahead of the September 1 deadline.

The report suggests there is uncertainty over the futures of Japhet Tanganga, Bryan Gil, Matt Doherty, Emerson Royal, Lucas Moura, Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso, Sergio Reguilon and Harry Winks.

It comes after Gil, Ndombele and Lo Celso spent the second half of last season on loan with Valencia, Lyon and Villarreal respectively.

Gil could reportedly join Serie A side Sampdoria on loan as he does not feature in Conte's plans as the 2022/23 campaign nears, while AC Milan are exploring the possibility of capturing Tanganga on an initial temporary deal which offers the option of a permanent switch to the San Siro.

Everton have shown an interest in Winks, who has been told he can leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, while Southampton are also understood to be keen.

What has Fabrizio Romano said about the situation?

Romano understands Tottenham are now prioritising finding a buyer for numerous stars who have been deemed surplus to requirements by Conte.

The transfer guru believes there will not be any more new signings until some departures are sanctioned, while Ndombele, Lo Celso, Reguilon and Winks - who earn £368,000-per-week between them - may be among those to move onto pastures new.

Romano told GIVEMESPORT: "For the other opportunities, we will have to wait until August because now the priority is for Tottenham to sell players.

"Ndombele is one of them, Lo Celso is another, Reguilon is in a situation which needs to be clarified and Harry Winks could leave as well.

"They will try to sell as many players as possible, of course only players that are not in the project of Antonio Conte, and then decide on potential additions."

Why are Spurs looking to sell players?

Having been appointed as Tottenham's head coach last November, Conte is preparing for his first full season at the helm.

The Italian has wasted no time in freshening up his squad as he has already acquired Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Clement Lenglet and Djed Spence this summer.

An influx of fresh faces means there will be limited game-time for some members of the squad and, having parted with close to £100million so far, departures may be necessary before spending big on any more targets.
