Boxing and social media sensation Jake Paul has weighed in on the massive rumoured UFC 279 match between Nate Diaz and Khamzat Chimaev.

The fight was recently reported by ESPN’s Brett Okamoto as being set to be officially announced, and it’s looking like it will be taking place in September 2022.

As a box office attraction, this will be a huge opportunity for Khamzat to further solidify himself as a genuine challenger in the Welterweight division and Kamaru Usman, and Diaz himself is a proven draw and major fan favourite.

Here is everything you need to know about the bet that Jake Paul has claimed he will be putting on the UFC 279 fight between Nate Diaz and Khamzat Chimaev.

Even though a major bookmaker in the United States has Diaz opening as the +750 underdog against Chimaev, who himself is a massive -1150 favourite, Paul would tweet that he will be betting on the Diaz brother to defeat ‘fake Khabib’ inside the octagon:

‘The Problem Child’ has a penchant for making some wild claims, but in terms of betting this might be one of the more ‘out there’ claims he has made in terms of a UFC bout.

A Mismatch?

Whilst Diaz is an extremely experienced and tenured fighter, Khamzat will be entering the octagon with a huge amount of momentum as he continues his push towards a UFC Welterweight title fight against Kamaru Usman.

I’m not saying that Chimaev will completely dominate Diaz, but this is a very different prospect in 2022 as opposed to the Diaz that fought and defeated Conor McGregor back in 2016.

Right now, Khamzat appears to have the advantage in all areas, with his deadly striking and strong grappling abilities having so far seen him waltz through the division up until his first genuine test in Gilbert Burns.

The hype ahead of this fight will certainly sell it, and this could be a major statement made by Diaz before his UFC contract ends and he is free to take some crossover boxing bouts against the likes of Paul.
