Tottenham's Ivan Perisic could "walk straight into the team" under Antonio Conte, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

The Croatia international became Conte's first summer signing when he joined on a free transfer following his release from Inter Milan and Sheth reckons he's in line for a starting place next season.

What's the latest news involving Perisic?

After Conte had confirmed he'll be staying at Tottenham beyond the off-season, it was always shaping up to be an exciting transfer window for the north Londoners.

And less than five days later, Spurs were up and running in the market when it was announced that Perisic, who's earning £180,000 per-week, would be reuniting with Conte following their time together at Inter.

Perisic has spent the majority of his career playing out wide, but the 33-year-old has developed into a left wing-back in recent years, enjoying two successful campaigns there at San Siro, one of which was under Conte.

He will be competing with Ryan Sessegnon to become first choice left wing-back next season, with Sergio Reguilon expected to leave, but Sheth reckons that the ex-Bayern Munich star is likely to be Conte's number one.

What did Sheth say about Perisic?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "Some of those signings that Tottenham have made, I don't think you would have seen at Tottenham before.

"For example, Perisic just looks like a Conte signing, very short-term, but an established player, Champions League and international credentials, so he could walk straight into that team."

Who could start Tottenham's first game against Southampton?

Given his experience, quality, and stature, many are likely to see Perisic as Conte's favoured left-wing back heading into the new season.

But with less than three weeks to go until Tottenham host Southampton, it's far from a foregone conclusion that Perisic will make his full debut on 6 August.

That's because the experienced Croatian arrived in north London with a calf injury from his time in Italy, with the issue forcing him to miss both games on Spurs' pre-season tour of South Korea.

Conte did provide a promising update ahead of the club's trip to Rangers this weekend by stating that he hopes to give Perisic 20 or 30 minutes at Ibrox.

In contrast, Sessegnon played 45 minutes against the K-League Stars and Sevilla and is generally looking in prime condition, which should give him the edge to start the game against Southampton two weeks on Saturday.
