Celtic would also like to sign another striker in the summer window, according to Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph.

The Hoops have been productive in the market under manager Ange Postecoglou once again as he looks to transform his first-team squad, but further additions could still be on the way.

What is the latest news involving Celtic?

Postecoglou was able to turn both Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers’ loan deals into permanent ones following their successful showings for Celtic last season.

And the likes of Alexandro Bernabei, Benjamin Siegrist, Aaron Mooy and Moritz Jenz have since followed, adding significant strength to the Glasgow giants’ setup.

It remains to be seen if Mooy will be the replacement holding midfielder for Nir Bitton, who departed Parkhead last month for Maccabi Tel Aviv following the expiration of his contract. The Australian is of course renowned as being more of an attack-minded player during the majority of his career.

Several other defensive midfielders have been linked with a move to Postecoglou’s setup, although they have missed out on Vinicius Souza, who has opted to join La Liga outfit Espanyol instead.

What has Joseph said about Celtic?

Postecoglou only arrived at Celtic in June 2021 but he has already brought in over 20 signings either on a temporary or permanent basis.

GiveMeSport Transfer Latest

Joseph has informed GiveMeSport that the Greek-Australian tactician is still not satisfied with the options currently available to him, though, and has plans to bolster two key positions ahead of the upcoming campaign.

He told GMS prior to the confirmed deal for Mooy: “Celtic were definitely looking for a central defensive midfielder to add strength and depth and perhaps for that person to be a starter. I think they would also like another striker.”

Who could Celtic sign?

Celtic haven't been linked with too many striker during the current transfer window in all honesty.

Earlier in the summer, there were links with the likes of Alexandre Mendy of Caen and Ryan Mmaee of Ferencvaros, who scored 17 goals in all competitions last season for the Hungarian champions.

Celtic currently have the likes of Daizen Maeda, Kyogo Furuhashi and Giorgis Giakoumakis as their options up top, but doubts remain over the future of Albian Ajeti.

You'd think if the Swiss striker did leave then Postecoglou would like to add a replacement, so this could be a situation where we need to 'watch this space' in the remaining weeks of the window.
