Ian Wright and Alex Scott were filmed celebrating wildly during England’s dramatic quarter-final win at Euro 2022.

The Lionesses left it late to get past Spain at the Amex Stadium in Brighton.

After conceding through Esther González’s goal in the 54th minute, Ella Toone saved England’s title hopes with an equaliser in the 84th minute.

The tension in the Amex dissipated as the goal went in, but the best was yet to come.

With the match entering extra-time, Georgia Stanway stepped up and scored a sublime long-range effort, securing England’s passage into the semi-finals.

Wright and Scott, who were both part of the BBC’s coverage of the match, were captured celebrating a goal. It is not clear which one it was, but both were worthy of the euphoric scenes.

Their relief was clear as the pair screamed over the railings, jumping up and down in delight.

Wright, who starred for Arsenal during an illustrious playing career, shared the video on his Twitter account with the caption: “Av it!!!! ♥️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 @Lionesses @AlexScott”.

There was similar joy in the 28,994-strong crowd, who burst into song as the final whistle blew.

England will now play Sweden or Belgium in the semi-finals on Tuesday – the two teams play their decider later this week.

Presenter and former footballer Alex Scott

Wright and Scott are both high-profile proponents of women’s football. The former posted a similar celebration during England's 8-0 against Norway in the group stages, praising Beth Mead for her impressive performance.

The latter also played for Arsenal, making 150 appearances for the club. She hung up her football boots in 2018 and has since forged a new career in broadcasting.

Scott became the first permanent female host of Football Focus last year, and also featured as the first female commentator on FIFA 22.
