Jack Grealish was at the centre of the drama as Manchester City sealed a 2-1 victory over Mexican side Club America on Wednesday night. The England international, who City signed from Aston Villa in a deal worth £100 million last summer, was involved in an altercation with Club America goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa in the 25th minute of the pre-season friendly.Grealish didn’t take kindly to Ochoa’s request for him to get up after going to ground inside the box.The winger felt he should have been awarded a penalty and ended up in a shoving contest with the opposition goalkeeper.Ochoa’s teammates then rushed over to intervene and Grealish was the pantomime villain from that moment onwards.Watch the video here:

Grealish was involved in a similar incident on the stroke of half-time, apoplectic that the referee waved away another penalty appeal, and also came in for some rough treatment in the second half.

Grealish’s every touch was booed, per the Daily Mail’s Jack Gaughan, and a video taken from the stands shows the hostile reception he received from the crowd as he lined up to take a corner.

This was supposed to be a pre-season ‘friendly’ but try telling that to Grealish.

The 26-year-old was eventually substituted in the 77th minute for Brazilian teenager Kayky.

No Haaland - but Kevin De Bruyne was the star of the show

There was disappointment for fans inside the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas as City’s star summer signing Erling Haaland was left on the bench by Pep Guardiola, but they still got to see Kevin De Bruyne work his magic.

The world-class Belgian midfielder opened the scoring in the 30th minute with a beautiful strike from outside the box.

He then made it 2-1 shortly before half-time with a composed finish past Oscar Jimenez, who replaced Ochoa in the 33rd minute.

Who else do Man City play in pre-season?

City have one more friendly, against Bayern Munich this weekend, before they face Liverpool on the Community Shield on July 30.

The reigning champions then begin the defence of their Premier League title with a tricky trip to West Ham on August 7.
