Arsenal will be open to signing a new winger this summer once a deal for Oleksandr Zinchenko is announced, according to Fabrizio Romano

The Ukrainian has reportedly agreed his deal at the Emirates with official confirmation just around the corner so speculation will turn to the Gunners’ next move.

What is the latest in Arsenal’s winger search?

Mikel Arteta’s desire to add a winger to his squad ahead of the new campaign became apparent when Arsenal made a move to sign Raphinha from Leeds.

They ultimately fell short in those attempts but it made it clear that, if they can, the Gunners were eager to add something extra outside.

It remains to be seen who their attentions will now turn to but a number of names have already been linked with moves to the Emirates including Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio

The Spaniard recently sacked his agent amid interest from a number of clubs, including Arsenal, but he is not the only name on their radar.

Other stars to be linked include PSV’s Cody Gakpo, former Juventus forward Paulo Dybala and versatile Lyon man Lucas Paqueta.

What has Romano said on the search?

When asked whether a winger could be targeted next, Romano told GIVEMESPORT: “I think it’s a possibility but Arsenal will go with their strategy as always. As they did in January when they wanted Dusan Vlahovic and were not able to sign him, they decided to wait and sign a player like Gabriel Jesus.

"I think it will be the same. If they can find an opportunity for a player who could be Arsenal, the right player for Mikel Arteta and Edu, they will be happy to jump into it.”

Will Arsenal add a new attacking talent?

Going from the rumours that have emerged so far, it is pretty apparent that they would want to do add to the final third if they can.

But like Romano alluded to, they will likely only do so if they are 100 per cent in favour of the move and that the player matches Arteta’s desired criteria.

The Spaniard has spoken of wanting complete commitment and professionalism from all of his players so he will not be afraid to turn down big names if he feels they will not fit the bill.

With the return of European football at the Emirates coming next term and Nicolas Pepe linked with a move away, adding depth to the attack will be key in the club achieving their goals, however.
