UFC, MMA and combat sports megastar Conor McGregor has been accused of ducking a major name in the Lightweight division of the company.

McGregor has been out of action since his loss to Dustin Poirier, which saw ‘Notorious’ lose the bout when his leg snapped, which, depending on which fighter you believe, was a freak accident or caused by Poirier checking a kick.

Recent images have shown the former UFC champ-champ adding weight to potentially move up to 170-pounds, but no one really knows what his true MMA intentions are at this point.

Here is what an MMA legend had to say with regards to Conor McGregor ducking a major name in the UFC Lightweight division.

Conor McGregor vs Charles Oliveira

Charles Oliveira is the reigning UFC lightweight champion

Junior dos Santos has accused the Irish megastar of ducking the former UFC Lightweight Champion Charles Oliveira.

Speaking on the Podpah podcast (via The Mirror), the fighter claimed: “Did you see that not long ago he [Oliveira] challenged McGregor? And McGregor is kind of ducking.

“Of course, we know, just ducking. It’s obvious he won’t want to, it’s a bad fight for him. Damn, it’s obvious, and then, they’re wanting to put him against that Makhachev. Islam Makhachev, who’s a monster.

“It looks like he will accept the fight against Makhachev, hoping that Khabib [Nurmagomedov] will come out of retirement to fight him later.”

There’s absolutely no way of knowing right now whether McGregor was actually offered a fight against Oliveira. If the UFC wanted to have a massive box office draw, then they could’ve done McGregor vs Oliveira for the vacant 155-pound title, but instead, it appears as though they’ve gone with Oliveira vs the aforementioned Islam Makhachev.

UFC 246 McGregor v Cowboy: Weigh-Ins

Whoever McGregor does face next in the octagon will likely be in for a fantastic payday, as the Irish fighter commands the biggest box office receipts in the history of MMA.

Nate Diaz was being looked at as a potential opponent, but he will be getting Khamzat Chimaev next in another major contest for the company.

So, did McGregor ‘duck’ Oliveira? We aren’t really going to know unless ‘Notorious’ himself reveals if a fight was offered, and he probably won’t be forthcoming with such information any time soon.
