Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain will hold further talks in the coming days over the future of centre-back Presnel Kimpembe, according to Fabrizio Romano

Thomas Tuchel is prioritising defensive recruits after completing a deal for Raheem Sterling with Kimpembe emerging as a top target in recent weeks.

What is the latest on Kimpembe?

Recent reports indicate that Tuchel has urged new chairman Todd Boehly to prioritise the signing of two new top-class centre-backs this summer.

Both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen left on free transfers for Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively after contract talks were halted while Roman Abramovich was under sanction.

Tuchel managed Kimpembe during his time as PSG boss but the France international is apparently reluctant to leave the Ligue 1 champions.

Compatriot N’Golo Kante and former teammate Thiago Silva have both apparently been deployed to try and convince the 26-year-old to swap Paris for London.

Kimpembe has risen through the ranks at the Parc Des Princes having come through the club’s youth system, making 220 appearances since and was a regular under Mauricio Pochettino last term.

What has Fabrizio Romano said about Kimpembe?

Romano told GIVEMESPORT: “Their conditions, so €65 million and not the €50 million as Chelsea wants. So it's the organisation to be discussed in the coming days. But now the priority for Chelsea's centerback over wingers.”

What are the alternatives to Kimpembe this summer?

While Chelsea appear to be pushing hard for Kimpembe now, he is not the only defender on their radar.

Sevilla defender Jules Kounde has been high on the club’s wishlist for almost a year now and personal terms have been agreed with the Frenchman for a while now.

Kounde and Kimpembe appear to be the two players most coveted by Tuchel this summer as he looks to plug some significant gaps at the back and make a fast start under the new ownership.

However, Barcelona are providing stiff competition for the signature of Kounde despite reports that Chelsea are close to agreeing a £55 million deal with Sevilla.

Also under consideration at Stamford Bridge is RB Leipzig star Josko Gvardiol with the highly-rated 20-year-old reportedly viewed as a back-up should they fail to sign either Kounde or Kimpembe this summer.

But the Bundesliga outfit are determined to hang onto the Croatian past the summer so it would likely take a sizeable fee from Chelsea to prise him away from the club.
