UFC and Women’s MMA great Valentina Shevchenko recently revealed what is next for her in her already impressive combat sports career.

Shevchenko last fought inside the octagon as part of UFC 275, defeating Talia Santos via split decision to successfully defend her UFC Women’s Flyweight bout.

‘Bullet’ is currently considered the Women’s Pound for Pound great in the company, ahead of Amanda Nunes, Julianna Pena and Rose Namajunas, so fans are hoping to see her back in action soon.

Here is what Valentina Shevchenko had to say with regards to the next step in her UFC career and her Women’s Flyweight Championship.

Speaking on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani (via BJPenn.com), Shevchenko revealed what she is planning to do next in her career:

“Y’know, to fight 135 right now, I have to build bigger muscles. I have to work on getting myself bigger, and then have to work on getting myself smaller, for flyweight. I really don’t see any ‘why’ I have to do that.

“Give me some reasons, big fights or whatever. But, what else? At this moment, it’s not happening. I think flyweight is the weight where I will do my next title defence.

“Let’s see, I hadn’t thought about that yet too clearly. It depends on what fight it’s going to be, how they will fight, and what they want to do.

“I feel comfortable at this moment, weight, body, what I have, without having to do extra cutting or adding weight. I would like to stay healthy as I am right now, and continue this journey.”

Valentina Shevchenko's Next Fight

It’s not currently known when Shevchenko will be making her way back into the octagon, although a potential return bout against Santos or someone like Lauren Murphy, who recently defeated Miesha Tate in an impressive showing.

There are not a ton of events left in 2022 that haven’t already got a main event lined up, but we will hopefully hear more from the company regarding the next opponent for ‘Bullet’ at some point in late 2022 or even early to mid-2023.
